Marian Harkin fills last European seat for Midlands Northwest

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Marian Harkin has been returned to the European Parliament after a recheck of ballots for the Midlands North West constituency.
The final stage of the process began yesterday morning and continued through much of the night in Castlebar.
The Independent candidate has thanked her supporters through her Twitter feed, noting that she’s the last MEP to be elected across Europe.
Independent Luke Ming Flanagan, Fine Gael’s Mairead McGuinness and Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy have taken the other three seats in the constituency.
