Maree’s U. 18 basketballers advance to Cup

THE Maree U20 women basketballers were out of luck against Killester, Dublin in the National Cup quarter final in St Fintan’s School Hall, Dublin in minus zero room tempetures last Saturday, but the club’s U-18 girls are still going strong.
Killester opened up the game with a four point lead before a Sinead Burkes drive got Maree on the scoresheet. Killester followed with a six point run to lead 10-2 when Carol McCarthy hit a three followed by a Nicola O’Connell shot to end the 1st quarter 18-11 down.
Maree improved their defence in the second quarter and some good drives from Meabh Malone, Caitriona Foley and Burke left them trailing 32-24 at half time.
