The managing director of Galway airport has admitted the next few months are crucial in turning around the fate of the facility.

47 staff are being made redundant at Carnmore this month following Aer Arann’s decision to suspend its Winter flights.

The consultation period with staff and unions will end in two weeks time, leaving just 6 employees to manage the downgraded airport. (19 Nov)

The position of managing director, which Joe Walsh is stepping down from this month, will be downgraded to a ‘support role’ for the management team.
