MANAGER OF PORTIUNCULA HOSPITAL REJECTS CLAIMS OF DOWNGRADING

The general manager of Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe says she’s confident that the hospital will not be downgraded.

Bridget McHugh says the concept of one hospital being associated with other hospitals is not new, and that the hospital will not be closed.

The HSE plans to appoint a Manager to Galway University Hospitals, who will also have remit over Portiuncula Hospital and Roscommon Hospital.

Bridget McHugh says there is a need for more communication and clarification on the matter.
