Management team in place for Ocean Race

The Stopover Manager and Operations Manager for the biggest event ever to be staged in the West of Ireland — the Volvo Ocean Race — have taken up their posts in the city.
Tuam native, Neil Carney, was appointed Operations Manager earlier this week and will be responsible for the logistics, traffic management, crowd management and the smooth running of the stopover“on the ground”.
Mr Carney has a wealth of experience in large-scale events
such as this, having worked on the Special Olympic World
Games in Dublin. Last year he was Logistics Manager of the
2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. Mr Carney works for the
Western Alzheimers Association.
Seán Scott was appointed Stopover Manager and has overall responsibility for the smooth running of the race. He has a BSc in Maritime studies and over 20 years experience in the maritime industry. Last year he was Director of the Celtic European Festival of the Sea.
