Man to be extradited from France over Oughterard killing
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A 38-year-old Romanian man who’s wanted in connection with the 2011 killing in Oughterard of publican and teacher John Kenny is due to be extradited back to Ireland to face trial.
Marian Lingurar, who had an address at Blackpool in Cork, was arrested in France and is in custody in Marseille.
He was charged with the manslaughter of 56 year old John Kenny at Kenny’s Bar on Main Street Oughterard on 25 September 2011.
He subsequently failed to turn up for his trial last September.
He was arrested in France on foot of a European Arrest warrant and officers from the Garda extradition unit have travelled to Marseille after he consented to his extradition to Ireland.
He’s expected to appear before Galway Circuit Criminal court on Thursday morning.
