MAN STILL CRITICAL AFTER WOODFORD CRASH

An elderly man from the Woodford area remains in a critical condition in Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe after a two vehicle crash near his home at the weekend.

The man and his wife were in their car when it collided with a pick-up truck shortly after 9 o’clock Saturday morning.

The accident happened not far from the Curragh West Golf Club on the road between Loughrea and Woodford.

This afternoon the man’s condition remains critical while his wife’s condition is stable (16/6).

The driver of the pick-up truck was taken to University Hospital, Galway for treatment to injuries and has since been discharged.
