Man still being questioned following city death
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardaí are this evening continuing to question a man in his fifties in connection with an incident in the city after which another man died.
A 60-year-old city native suffered a suspected cardiac arrest following an alleged assault in Crowe’s Bar on Bohermore between 2 and 3 this morning.
He was taken to University Hospital Galway where he died at around 8am.
A 52 year old man, also from the city, presented himself at Mill Street Garda station this morning and is still being questioned.
The State Pathologist has completed a post-mortem examination on the deceased in the last hour and the results will determine the course of the investigation.
In a statement to Galway Bay fm, the owners of Crowe’s bar in Bohermore said they would like to express their sincerest sympathies with the family of the deceased at this tragic time for them.
They state this matter is under Garda investigation and they are co-operating fully with the Gardai and cannot make any further comment at this time.
