Man pleads guilty to sexually exploiting young girl
A 53-year-old man will be sentenced later this year for the sexual exploitation of a child.
The man appeared before Galway Circuit Criminal Court where he pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting a female child at a place or places unknown within the State on dates between November 26 and 30, 2016, contrary to Section 3 of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998, as amended by Section 6 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Amendment Act 2007, as substituted by Section 3(2) of the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act 2008.
On the application of the man’s defence barrister, Judge Brian O’Callaghan imposed reporting restrictions on revealing the man’s identity, and remanded him on continuing bail to November for sentence.
He also directed the preparation of a probation report on the man along with a psychiatric report for the sentence date.
