Man pleads guilty to city robbery after 8 years

A 41-year-old Galway man has pleaded guilty to the robbery of cash from a city shop eight years ago.

Joe Walsh, of 15 Gaelcarrig Park, Newcastle, pleaded guilty at Galway Circuit Criminal Court to the robbery of €2,800 cash from the Mace shop on Shantalla Road, on July 29, 2005.

The facts were admitted in a second charge of causing criminal damage in the shop on the same date.

Judge Rory McCabe directed the preparation of a probation report and adjourned sentencing to October 15.
