MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ATTEMPTED RAPE IN BALLINASLOE

A 28-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a woman in Ballinasloe.

The man – who can’t be named for legal reasons – also pleaded guilty to the aggravated assault of the same woman.

On Tuesday, a jury of seven men and five women were sworn in at the Central Criminal Court sitting here in Galway.

They were ordered to return for trial today.

However, they’ve just been excused after the man pleaded guilty after the charges were put to him before Mr Justice Barry White.

He’s admitted to the attempted rape of the woman in Ballinasloe on February 2nd 2010.
