Man pleads guilty over child abuse images
A 51-year-old Hungarian man will be sentenced in January for possessing explicit images of children while living in County Galway five years ago.
Istavn Decsi was arrested at Dublin Airport by Garda Rudy Kelly on July 16 last on foot of two arrest warrants issued by Judge James Faughnan at Tuam District Court on September 22 last year.
He was subsequently charged at Tuam Garda Station with having 93 images of pre-pubescent children posing with their genitals exposed at his former address in Woodfield, Tuam, on May 31, 2016.
He was also charged with having 40 other, similar images of children in his possession at a premises on Galway Road, Tuam, on the same date. Both charges are contrary to Section 6(1) of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998.
The accused never sought bail since first appearing before a special sitting of the District Court in July and appeared in custody before Galway Circuit Criminal Court again last week where he replied “I plead guilty” when both charges were put to him.
Judge Rory McCabe remanded Decsi in continuing custody to next February for sentence when the facts in the case will be heard.
