MAN IN COURT FOLLOWING TUAM ASSAULT

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court in Galway earlier today in connection with a serious assault in Tuam at the weekend.

The man who appeared in court is 18-year-old Shane Byrne of no fixed address.

The teenager was charged with assaulting Shane Grogan (22) at Fairgreen, Tuam in the early hours of Sunday morning

He was charged with assault causing harm and remanded in custody to appear again before Harristown Court on Friday

Shane Grogan, who was seriously injured in the assault has undergone surgery in Beaumount Hospital, Dublin.

He is son of Joseph and Joan Grogan of Shop Street, Tuam and the family are well known in business circles in Tuam.
