MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON AT CITY HOSTEL

A homeless man has been charged with setting fire to a bedroom at the Fairgreen Hostel, causing over €16,000 worth of damage.

48 year old John Larkin, used to be a long term resident of the shelter for homeless men at the Fairgreen, but is now being cared for by the Simon Community in another part of the city.

He appeared before Galway District Court this week charged with damaging a bedroom by fire at the hostel on February 20 last year.
