MAN CHARGED WITH 25 SAMPLE COUNTS OF INDECENTLY ASSAULTING BOY IN THE CITY

A 68 year old pensioner appeared in custody before Galway District Court today.

The man is charged with 25 sample counts of indecently assaulting a boy at two separate locations in the city over forty years ago.

He cannot be named for legal reasons and is charged with indecently assaulting the boy on dates unknown between January 1, 1966 and December 31, 1969 at two locations on the east side of the city.

Detective Garda Tony Reidy gave evidence of arresting the man this morning and bringing him before the court.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded the man to appear before the court again on October 20 for service of a Book of Evidence.

Bail was granted to the man on condition he make no contact with the alleged victim or other witnesses involved in the case.
