Man admits having pistol and ammunition in Mervue
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A 26-year-old city man has admitted having a James Bond style semi-automatic pistol and two types of military ammunition at his home in Mervue for unlawful purposes over two years ago.
James McCarthy, of 14 Barry Avenue, Mervue, appeared before Galway Circuit Criminal Court where he pleaded guilty to having the pistol at his home on July 10th, 2011.
He also pleaded guilty to having 31 rounds of ammunition and two rounds of NATO calibre Israel Military Industries-make ammunition in his possession.
Judge Sean O’Donnabhain directed the preparation of a probation report and adjourned sentence to March 5th.
