Man accused of stealing from women at city hotels
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A man, accused of robbing two prostitutes at Galway hotels, has been denied bail.
34-year-old Gediminas Zigmantas of no fixed abode allegedly met the women through the Escort Ireland website.
According to today’s Irish Daily Star, Zigmantas faces three counts of robbery from prostitutes at various hotels in Clare and Galway.
Ennis District Court has heard that the latest robbery allegedly happened at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Lough Atalia on May 11th.
He’s accused of robbing a woman of 1,700 euro in cash, an i-pod and perfume on that occasion.
Zigmantas is also accused of robbing 400 euro from a woman at the Victoria Hotel, Queen Street on October 15th last year.
He’s further accused of robbery from a woman at the West County Hotel, Ennis on March 6th this year, where he allegedly tied up the woman with phone charger and laptop wires.
Judge Patrick Durcan remanded Zigmantas in custody to appear in court again next Wednesday.
