MAJOR MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT FOR SALTHILL APPEALED
Date Published: 15-Jun-2008
Plans for a major development at the Salt n Pepper takeaway have been appealed to An Bord Pleanala.
Galway city council refused an application by ‘Rum Spirits’ to demolish the takeaway and build a new 4 storey development at Upper Salthill.
Rum Spirits was previously refused permission for a similar development and the application was revised to address inadequate parking provision
The new application was seeking to demolish the existing restaurant to make way for a new takeaway, retail unit and 6 apartments.
However city planners refused permission for the development on the grounds of it’s scale, traffic impact and the quality of the residential accommodation.
Rum Spirits has appealed the decision to An Bord Pleanala claiming the apartments are designed in accordance with Department of Environmental Design Standards
