Macnas to bring Greek legend to life

THE Macnas parade, always one of the highlights of the Galway Arts Festival, will this year start at 10pm on Sunday night from the Spanish Arch area.

The route of the parade, Orfeo, directed by Noeline Kavanagh, Artistic Director of Macnas, will take it through Flood Street, Merchants Road, Lower Abbeygate Street, William Street, Eglinton Street, Francis Street, over the Salmon Weir Bridge and around to the Cathedral.

Spectacle and illusion are Macnas trademarks and this year’s parade – inspired by the Greek legend of Orpheus – asks people to come out to celebrate and welcome this fiery poet, Orfeo to the streets of Galway.
