The Máirtín O’Connor Band – a musical partnership of Galway accordionist Máirtín O’Connor, fiddler and banjo player Cathal Hayden and guitarist and singer Séamie O’Dowd – will play Ballinasloe Town Hall on Thursday next, March 1.

The concert is part of a tour to mark the release of Going Places, their follow-up to 2009’s Crossroads.

The new album consists of a dozen tracks – nine instrumentals and three songs – sparking with their chemistry and a sense of adventure.

Their unique sound, which sees them blend traditional melodies with a number of Máirtín’s superb compositions, has been carefully sculpted over a ten-year period of touring.

The Máirtín O’Connor Band recently played Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival where they performed a selection of tunes and songs from both Crossroads and Going Places.

A similar mix can be expected as they finish their tour in Ballinasloe Town Hall next Thursday.
