Love-Hungry Farmer makes a return visit
One of Ireland’s fines actors and entertainers, Des Keogh is returning to the Town Hall Theatre with his hugely successful and award-winning show, The Love-Hungry Farmer by John B. Keane. It will be at the city venue on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July, 8pm.
Adapted and performed by Des Keogh, from the book, Letters of a Love-Hungry Farmer by John B Keane, this one-man show tells the story of John Bosco McLane, a bachelor of ‘indeterminate’ age, who is ‘past his best’, according to his own assessment, and evidently still a virgin a. McLane’s amorous adventures range from the hilarious to the pitiful.
John B. Keane ranks among the great Irish writers, funny and unflinching in his views. His plays include Sive, The Field and Big Maggie. His Letters series of books were a spectacular success, particularly Letters of a Love Hungry Farmer.
Des Keogh’s interpretation of John Bosco has been widely praised at home and abroad, with Associated Press describing him as “a wonder” and “a master-storyteller” while the New York Times called this production “fiercely serious and bruisingly hilarious”.
