Love, confusion and plenty of laughs in Cupid Wore Skirts

Moore & Clonfad Drama Society are in final rehearsals for their production of the three-act comedy Cupid Wore Skirts by Sam Cree, which will be staged this Friday to Sunday, March 9-11, in Moore Hall.

This production sees many returning stalwarts and two members making their debut with the group.

The story centres on Andy Coulter, played by the inimitable Tom Costello, as an unwitting Casanova trying to fend off the advances of three different women, ably played by Maura O’Brien, Carmel Scott and Finola O’Brien, in her first appearance with the group. Adding some comic confusion to the mix is Grandad played by Niall Flynn. Trying to keep everything in order is Andy’s daughter played by another debutante with the group, Bernie Greene.

Ivan Colleran brings light relief in his portrayal of Andy’s son Brian who is kept in line by his bossy, contrary aunt played by Chrissie Kelly. Just when Andy thinks he has no way out of his dilemma, help comes from group veteran, Patrick Whelan, as he’s never been seen before.

Comedy is synonymous with Moore & Clonfad Drama Society and they put their success in this genre down to their long-standing association with Liam Curley, Creagh, Ballinasloe, who once again is on board as producer.

Cupid Wore Skirts will be staged this Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday, March 9-11, in Moore Hall with the curtain rising at 8pm. Patrons are advised to come early to avoid disappointment.
