People aged 13 to 18 with an interest in music are invited to a consultation in the Loughrea Hotel & Spa on Saturday, January 25. Running from 11am-2pm, this is for a music event that’s being organised by Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture as part of its youth music project Livefeed. The event will take place in Temperance Hall on Saturday, February 29.

Livefeed aims to grow a culture of youth music in Galway and empower young people to pursue their interest across the spectrum, whether it’s performing, audio and video production, event production or music journalism and promotion.

The project is about providing opportunities for young people to enjoy live music in safe, alcohol-free environments, by hosting engaging live music events across Galway City and County that are specifically designed for youth communities. These have already been held in Headford, Gort and Kinvara, where participants learned everything from doing a soundcheck to making videos, depending on their interests.

The project will culminate later this year at the EYE on the Edge festival, where a group of young musicians and technicians will entertain the crowds over two days at the Livefeed stage.
