LOUGHREA MAYOR CONDEMNS MOYROSS RUMOURS AS SCAREMONGERING

The Mayor of Loughrea has condemned as ‘scaremongering’ recent speculation that residents from Moyross in Limerick are to be relocated to the town.

Mayor Mogie Maher said this week’s claim by Cllr Gabriel Burke that 40 houses under construction in Loughrea will be used to re-house residents of Moyross was ‘absolute scaremongering’.

Cllr Burke claimed he was informed by an auctioneer that Limerick county council were planning to buy the housing estate and offer houses to Moyross residents.

Director of Housing with Galway county council Frank Gilmore also dismissed the speculation out of hand and accused ‘certain people of trying to stoke a fire’ and increasing anxiety for the people of Loughrea.
