Galway Bay fm newsroom – The members of Loughrea Municipal District are calling on the County Council to review the funding terms of the Community Involvement Scheme.
At this week’s meeting, Director of Services Jim Cullen told councillors that their notice of motions money could not be used to supplement works under the scheme.
The issue was raised by Councillors Michael Moegie Maher, Jimmy McClearn and Gerry Finnerty after it emerged that a roadworks scheme in the district was short by 11 thousand euro.
They said that if funding provided by the Department of Transport is not sufficient to do the works to which it was allocated, it may end up being returned to the department.
The director of services said that he would forward the matter to the Roads Strategic Policy Committee who can then make a presentation to the full council.
