Loughnane in no hurry to get Portumna players back

AFTER Portumna’s superb All-Ireland Club final victory on Monday, Galway hurling manager Ger Loughnane believes those inter-county players involved need to be allowed time to recuperate before committing to the Tribesmen’s cause.

With speculation rife among the local hurling populace regarding the future of Ollie and Joe Canning in a Galway jersey, Loughnane says the Portumna contingent should be given time to enjoy their All-Ireland triumph.

“That was such an important game for those players and you have to respect that and give those players a while to thaw out. The whole build up to the game, and the final itself, would have taken a lot out of those players.

“So there is no point doing anything yet. Those players will need time to get the appetite back and they have to be allowed the time to do that,” insists the Galway manager.
