Lockdown proves productive for Galway brothers in arms

All of Eden....productive period

Jake and Troy Gawley have been writing and performing together for several years but the past few months have seen the duo embark upon a new direction with their music. Under the thoughtful moniker All of Eden, the brothers have introduced new sounds to their previously acoustic act.

With three singles already in the public domain, however, they are proving that their rebrand consists of more than a name change.

All of Eden retain the fundamentals that have made Jake and Troy’s act so popular around Galway in recent years.

The boys’ harmonies are smooth and subtle – their hooks are punchy and refined. It’s a core that has been boosted by the addition of keys and synth as they look to push themselves in different aspects of their songwriting.

The singles so far, Her, Hannah and The Weir, all centre around a similar theme. The lyrics are nostalgic and largely focus on the narrator’s desires.

“It’s to do with the idea of wanting what you can’t have,” Troy notes.

“With the story of Adam and Eve, they had everything they could have possibly wanted but it still wasn’t enough. I feel like that’s something that we all experience.

“That’s where we got the idea for All of Eden – we’re all of that mindset where we want something but we can’t always have it. [The songs] are all bedroom demos for now.

“Our plan is to keep dropping singles. Abience is the body of work. We have three tracks in it so far so it’s kind of a three-track EP. Hopefully over time, we’ll create an album of maybe twelve or thirteen tracks.”

“The name of the album is our favourite word – it means a strong urge to avoid a situation or thing,” Jake adds.

“We’re very inspired by eighties movies – John Hughes and that kind of thing. We like the vibe and the timelessness of it so that’s where we get our creation from.”
