The county council’s decision to grant permission to transform part of Barna has been met with major local opposition.

Liam O’Toole was given the green light to knock 3 sheds and build 94 homes in their place at Truskey East.

Planners also gave permission to develop five commercial units, 10 apartments and a creche on the site.

36 concerned residents of the Cnoc Fraoigh estate have now launched an appeal to an Bord Pleanala.

They claim it’s not good planning practice to allow heavy traffic into housing estates and have expressed safety concerns to the appeals board.
