LOCAL POLITICIANS TO JOIN COCA COLA PICKET LINE IN TUAM
Date Published: 17-Sep-2009
Local politicians will join the picket line at Tuam’s Coca Cola Plant in protest over the issuing of P45s.
The P45s were sent in the post by the company to 130 staff nationwide who have been objecting to Coca Cola’s proposals to outsource jobs.
Last Thursday, staff at the centre of the jobs dispute in Tuam, Dublin Waterford and Cork unanimously rejected proposals put forward by the soft drinks giant.
It’s understood that the P45’s have come as a ‘bolt out of the blue’ to those involved, especially as a labour court hearing is on the agenda tomorrow.
Local Councillor, Tom Reilly, who will join the picket line, says that it’s very wrong to treat employees in this way.
