Local entrepreneurs make their pitch

County winners from Galway, Mayo and Roscommon pitched their new, start-up and established business ideas to judges as the regional final of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur Awards competition took place in the Clayton Hotel last week.

Regional Winner of Best New Idea was Galway contestant Brendan Boland of Loci Orthopaedics, recognised for his development of a new surgical joint replacement device.

“I really am thrilled to have won in both the Galway country and Western regional finals of the IBYE Competition,” he said.

“A sincere thanks to the Local Enterprise Office Galway for their continued support of Loci Orthopaedics and of all young entrepreneurs and start-ups. Irelands Best Young Entrepreneur Competition is a great way to receive recognition for innovative new and established business ideas,” he added.

Regional Winner of Best Start-Up was Mayo contestant John McNicholas for his company Inspire Tile and Stone which specialise in the supply and installation of tile solutions.

Winner of Best Established Business Idea was Mayo contestant Daniel Loftus for his company UrbanFox which specialise in the development of anti-fraud technology.

Winners proceed to the national final in Dublin, with the final round to be held at Google HQ on March 4.
