Local band No Stairway recreate sound of Led Zeppelin

No Stairway come to the Róisín Dubh this Saturday, September 29. The band is made up of brothers Shane (bass) and Ronan (guitar) O’Malley, drummer Bill Dunne and superb frontman, Steven Sharpe.

The band formed in 2013 and since then have played up and down the country, from small rooms to biker conventions. They do an excellent job of recreating Zeppelin at their 1970s peak. Ronan replicates Jimmy Page’s riffs note for note – even going at the six-string with a violin bow, like the man himself did.  Shane plays the grooves that made John Paul Jones one half of an amazing rhythm section and he also takes to the keys on tunes like No Quarter and Kashmir.

Steven Sharpe steps into the shoes of Robert Plant and while the Galway singer may not have the long blond locks that made Plant a pin-up, he can definitely hit the high notes on iconic tunes like Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog and Stairway to Heaven.

Steven is one of the most gifted singers on the local music scene, and his wit between songs adds to the evening’s entertainment. Expect to hear all the Zeppelin classics, as well as some album cuts to keep the hardcore fans happy.

■ Doors at 9pm, tickets €10.
