Fresh efforts to get a second ferry ship on board a cargo ship at Galway docks will get underway later this morning.

The operation to hoist the ‘Clann eagle 1’ ferry on board the Danish registered ‘Thor Gitta’ is expected to begin around 9 0′ clock.

The first ferry, the 76 tonne Clann na nOilean was successfully lifted onto the decks of the freight carrier yesterday.

Efforts to ship the two Aran ferries from Galway to the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius have been hit by a series of accidents and delays over the past three weeks.

Harbour Master Brian Sheridan is confident that the cargo ship will finally be able to set sail this evening.
