LIVE REGISTER FIGURES FALL ACROSS CITY AND COUNTY

There’s been an improvement in unemployment figures in all areas across the city and county.

A total of 316 people came off the live register in April.

Just over 22 thousand people are now unemployed across the city and county – that’s down 1 thousand 193 on the same month last year.

Unemployment figures dropped across all social welfare offices in the county and city last month compared to March.

The highest fall off was in the city where 172 people signed off the live register last month leaving a remaining jobless figure of 11 thousand 448.

In the county, Loughrea experienced the greatest fall off where 73 people came off the dole leaving 2 thousand 274 people unemployed there.
