The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra with Daniel Barenboim will be ‘live in concert’ at Galway’s Eye Cinema, next Wednesday, June 18, in the final of the Classical Arts Ireland live events programme

Top pianist Daniel Barenboim will join forces with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under  Sir Simon Rattle, and the concert will be relayed live to the Eye Cinema in Galway  as part of a Europe-wide event.

Barenboim will play Brahms’ towering first piano concerto, one of the greatest pieces ever written for the instrument. The programme will also include The Unanswered Question by Charles Ives and Metamorphosen for 23 solo strings by Richard Strauss – two contrasting pieces that will demonstrate the extraordinary quality of this great orchestra’s playing.

Tickets for the Eye will be at a small fraction of the cost of tickets to the concert itself, at €19 for adults. Tickets for families will be €40 and for children and students they will be €9.50.,
