Lifeboat rescues 79 people in Galway callouts last year

Galway Bay fm newsroom – 79 people were brought to safety by the RNLI from waters across the city and county last year.

Figures released by the group show that 30 people were rescued from the Aran Islands, 25 from the Clifden area and 24 from the city.

The RNLI lifeboat launched 80 times in Galway last year.

Nationally it launched 1,087 times in 2013 bringing 1,278 people to safety from all 44 lifeboat stations.
