“Let’s Get Ruthless” says Loughnane

THE fit again Ger Farragher has been recalled to the Galway senior hurling team for tomorrow (Saturday’s) All-Ireland hurling qualifier against minnows Laois at Pearse Stadium.

The Castlegar clubman is named at full forward in the only change to the Galway team which hammered Antrim by 26 points in their opening qualifier match at Casement Park, Belfast, last Saturday.

Farragher had missed that game due a hamstring injury, but now takes over the number 14 jersey from Eugene Cloonan, who has been ruled with an ankle injury after been struck in an off-the-ball incident which led to the dismissal of Michael McCambridge.

It’s probable Farragher would have been restored to the attack in any event as he has been in top form for his club during the county championship as injury doubts over David Forde (hip), Iarla Tannian (dead leg) and Fergal Healy (knee) subsided during the week.

Galway were very impressive in their demolition of Antrim with Damien Joyce, revelling in his outfield role, Joe Canning and Damien Hayes proving far too hot to handle for a disappointing home team which fielded without their best forward, Liam Watson, who was disciplined over a poor attitude to training.
