The operating company for Leisureland in Salthill is ‘back in the black’, after turning a profit of more than €330,000 last year, newly-filed accounts show.

The accounts Galway Salthill Fáilte Ltd for the year-ended December 2015, show an excess of income over expenditure of just over €333,000 – that is a substantial turnaround from the loss of €1,053,000 for 2014.

The profit has been “absorbed” by Galway City Council, who licences the company to operate Leisureland.

“The company’s income is exposed to fluctuations in the general economic conditions in Ireland and to the changing cost structures of the leisure and entertainment industry. The company has considered the risks prevalent and are in apposition to change the emphasis of their entertainment and leisure offering in response to changes in economic conditions.

“The company has undergone a capital renovation programme since the floor on January 3, 2014 and will make every effort to improve profitability,” the accounts read.

There were staff costs of more than €720,000 for the year – Leisureland employs 12 full-time and 35 part-time workers.
