Leisureland Board to be briefed on flood repair works

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A board meeting is to be held in Salthill on Friday (Mar 7) to discuss the future of the Leisureland complex.

The facility was severely damaged by flooding in early January following stormy conditions.

Remediation work had been estimated at 500 thousand euro in a report on storm damage which was presented to councillors in January.

Board members will be provided with an update on the level of damage and the timeframe for repairs at their Friday meeting.

Meanwhile local election candidate David Burke has called on the Board to consider expanding the facility into a national conference facility.

The Fianna Fail candidate for Galway City West says such an initiative could boost the local economy by five million euro, bringing multinationals to a venue outside of Dublin.
