LAUNCH OF ARAN ISLANDS ELECTRIC VEHICLES PROJECT

The Aran Islands Electric Vehicle Pilot Project will be officially launched tomorrow on Inis Mór.

The initiative will test the smart grid technologies needed to transfer and store wind energy in electric vehicles.

The first eight participants will receive their electric vehicles tomorrow morning, and several households across the Aran Islands have already had their charging points installed.

The initiative is being organised by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland in conjunction with the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs.
