Laughs guaranteed as Al Porter plays Comedy Carnival

Comedian Al Porter, who created a sensation on last Friday night’s Late Late Show, will play Galway’s Vodafone Comedy Carnival this October

Al performed a risqué version of Just a Gigolo to the delight of the Late Late audience, while host Ryan Tubridy handled the unusual serenade very well.

Tallaght native Al has been treading the boards in panto since he was 11 and his star is rising fast.

The 21-year-old is the youngest Irish comic ever to headline and sell out Dublin’s Vicar Street, and he has followed in the footsteps of such comics as Jonathan Ross, Michael McIntyre, Dara Ó Briain and Alan Carr, by signing to British talent agency, Off the Kerb Productions.

Al will play the Spiegeltent at Eyre Square on Wednesday and Thursday, October 21 and 22, during the Comedy Carnival. Fans can catch his full show, Al Porter Is Yours, at the Town Hall Theatre on Friday, October 23.

Tickets for these shows are selling fast, while all three of Dylan Moran’s Black Box Theatre shows and Nina Conti’s Town Hall Theatre appearance are completely sold out. Only a few seats remain for BBC star, Guardian columnist and grumpy do-gooder Stewart Lee at Róisín Dubh.

Other top names taking part in the Vodafone Comedy Carnival include Jason Manford, Ardal O’Hanlon, Jason Byrne, Deirdre O’Kane, PJ Gallagher and Phill Jupitus.

■ It runs from October 20 to 26. More information at www.vodafone comedycarnival.com
