Lauded Americana-driven duo for show in Monroe’s

American duo Phoebe Hunt and Dominic Leslie will play Monroe’s Live this Sunday. Their original music touches on the roots of American music, winding from jazz to country, from swing to bluegrass with ease and grace. Independently the two have travelled with a number of bands, touring through the States as well as internationally.

Recent years have seen Texas native Phoebe relocate from Austin to Nashville, Tennessee, to her current residence in Brooklyn, New York. Her wanderlust is evident in Phoebe’s new album, Walk with Me, recorded with The Gatherers and featuring Connor Forsyth, which was released in August.

Walk with Me draws from multiple genres as Phoebe channels jazz greats like Billie Holiday onto songs like Warm Summer’s Evening and You Can Love, while her fiddling on the accordion-laced Walk of Angeline would make Cajun fiddle legend Michael Doucet proud.

Long Gone and Flee Fly Flow Flum are infectious pop songs, and You Know by Now is anchored by Forsyth’s piano and melodica.

Dominick Leslie, meanwhile, swept through bluegrass festivals as a teen mandolin prodigy and has toured with and shared the stage with some of the greatest players on the scene today, including Grant Gordy (David Grismann), The Deadly Gentlemen, Missy Raines, Sam Bush. Most recently he has released music with the bluegrass/old-time outfit, The Brotet.

Doors for their Monroe’s show are at 10pm, admission is €5.
