Late starter Pat launches his debut CD Ð aged 50
Date Published: 29-Nov-2012
Over 100 guests enjoyed an evening of music, fun and dance when Pat Creaven launched his debut country music CD in the G Hotel last week. The event was hosted by Galway Bay FM’s Jimmy Higgins, who praised a "lovely collection of well-known songs”. Entertainment was provided by Pat, accompanied by his wife Triona, an accomplished piano and keyboard player.
Pat who lives in the city suburb of Renmore, was born in County Galway, in Newbridge. One of 11 children, he found his voice through song. When he later worked as a foreman on construction sites, he entertained his co-workers with country songs and was inspired by singers such as Big Tom, Brian Coll, and Larry Cunningham. He has also performed regularly in many hotels and bars in the city and county.
His CD features 12 all-time country classics, including Willie Nelson’s On the Road Again, and Jim Reeves’ I Love You Because, and Gypsy Woman, made famous by Don Wiliams.
Two years ago Pat turned 50, he got married last December to Triona, and he has now completed the hatrick by launching his first CD. He will realise another dream this December, when he travels to New York, where he is performing over the festive season in Kelly’s Bar, Bay Ridge, famous for its cameo appearance in the film Saturday Night Fever.
The Irish-owned bar has another claim to fame as it has two addresses, with entrances Fourth and Fifth Avenue. This December, Galwegians will get a very warn welcome there, no matter which entrance they use, jokes Pat.
Pat’s self-titled CD, Pat Creaven is available in OMG/Zhivago, Duggan’s Supermarket Renmore, and usual outlets.
