Lal’s side full of confidence going into cup semi-final
Galway WFC face a daunting task when they head to Tolka Park tomorrow to take on Shelbourne WFC in the semi-finals of the Women’s FAI Cup (2pm), but Stephen Lally’s side will travel to the game on the back of a decent run of results and brimming with confidence.
A Chloe Singleton goal eight minutes from time sealed a 1-0 win over DLR Waves in the quarter-finals last month, and while ideally the side would have liked a home draw in the semi-finals, Lally will bring his side to Drumcondra quietly confident of booking their place at next month’s decider in the Tallaght Stadium.
They could not be going into tomorrow’s game in any better shape, after recording the club’s first-ever win over Wexford Youths in Ferrycarrig Park last weekend, which ended the home side’s 20-game unbeaten run.
