Ladies Day boosted attendance at Ballybrit yesterday but numbers still fell below the expected 50,000.

Race organisers reported 46,637 people attended yesterday, significantly higher than yesterday’s 25,000 crowd but still short of the 50,000 originally expected.

The tote turnover tipped the two million euro mark at 2 million 71 thousand euro.

That’s up from last year’s turnover of 1.8 million euro.

The bookies turnover was 70,000 less than the same day last year with 4.48 million euro recorded.
