Knocknacarra girls prove unbeatable

IN what was a terrific week for the club, Knocknacarra completed the double of Connacht League and Cups by both the U-14 and U-16 hockey squads.

On Sunday in Dangan, the U-14s added the Connacht Cup to the league won earlier when they defeated Galway HC on a five- nil scoreline in the semi final and then went on to defeat Greenfields in an exciting final, eventually coming out on top in sudden death penalties having drawn one-all in regular time.

Particularly impressive in that win were Captain Hannah Gormley, marshalling a solid defence throughout of Keeva Carr, Catriona Hickey and Eimear Divilly. The midfield trio of Maeve Russell, Angela Ferris and Clare Lally ensured the forward line made up of Sorcha Minihan, Lauren Dolan and Nimah Haloran had a plentiful supply of ball.
