Kilfenora Céilí Band mark new album with Town Hall show
The renowned Kilfenora Céilí band, together with guests, singers Edel Vaughan and Jerry Lynch, dancers Laura Minogue, and world champions Michael and Matthew Gardiner, will be at Galway’s Town Hall Theatre on Sunday, November 24.
Their show which “will be lively and uplifting”, according to band member and concertina player, Tim Collins, will celebrate the release of their 10th studio album.
Both Sides Now merges traditional and contemporary sounds and features everything from Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now, sung by Edel Vaughan, to newly composed waltzes and polkas by Tim to upbeat traditional reels and jigs by well-known composers Charlie and Maurice Lennon among others.
Guest artists include Clare singers Edel Vaughan and Jerry Lynch, and percussionist Danny Byrt, as well as Donal Lunny who also produced.
“The album and the song are a metaphor for how the Kilfenora Céilí Band have adapted, where we are coming from and going, representing what we do to be successful as creative and performing artists,” according to Tim.
