Kila to get the party started

IRISH folk and world music band Kila get the Volvo Ocean Race festivities underway on Saturday, May 23 when they welcome visitors to the race village at the Docks.

They will be supported by local blues rock band, The Deans and DJ Shaney when they take the Topaz main stage from 7.30pm at the weekend.

The seven piece trad group return to Ireland following their successful recent tour of Spain. They will be giving race-going tourists a taste of the best of Irish traditional music, as well as their unusual mishmash of world and Eastern European styles.

Kila put a contemporary twist on traditional music, and newcomers attending this free event are sure to enjoy listening to the bodhrán, fiddle, tin whistle and guitar as they have never heard them before.
