Kids “put museum to shame”

Management of the much criticised Galway City Museum got a lesson in historic exhibitions this week — from primary school pupils in Salthill.
Pupils in Scoil Íde primary school held a ‘Museum Days’ exhibition this week, where classes were encouraged to bring in old artefacts to put on display.
Included in the exhibition were old typewriters, cameras, phones, newspapers, lamps, lanterns, butter churns, pots, pans, sheep shears and timber washboards. And many of the kids of the iPod generation were particularly amused by old record players.
The exhibition was described as “hugely impressive and educational” by one city councillor, who said Galway City Council should take some tips from the kids for the City Museum.
