Kelly’s wonder strike adds to Kenna’s woes
Date Published: 14-Jul-2009
IT was 2-1 on the night to Galway United, and 3-0 over his former boss to Ian Foster, as Galway United ended a run of six league games without a win thanks to two goals in the space of 90 seconds in Richmond Park on Friday night.
A Jay O’Shea penalty and a wonder-goal from Sean Kelly were enough to see United come from behind to heap further misery on their former boss Jeff Kenna, who they have now beaten three times out of three since his controversial departure from United in the close season.
The build-up to the game was dominated by off-field talk over the very future of United, with CEO Nick Leeson admitting that talks had opened with a group of Manchester businessmen in relation to a possible purchase of the club.
