THREE generations of the Loughnane family, Loughrea, pictured at a recent Mart Show in the town, where they have continued on the tradition of supporting local farmers and businesses.

The Loughnanes have been in business in Loughrea since 1939 (the year the Second World War started), when the late John Loughnane made the bold move of opening his shop on the main street.

Since then, the business and tradition has been maintained through the endeavours of John’s son, Pat, and on through the third generation with John jnr. now a driving force in the shop.

“Our policy from day-one has been to source all our cattle and sheep locally which we then finish on the family farm at Masonbrook.

“We have always believed in the whole ethos of the farm to fork policy and our customers really appreciate that too. We buy local; finish local; and sell local,” John Loughnane told the Farming Tribune.
